In Broadchurch, a small town on the English coast, Alec Hardy has just been promoted to the rank of local police inspector when the community is shaken by the discovery on the beach of the body of little Danny Latimer. In the course of the investigation, in which he will be joined by Ellie Miller, it will be discovered that Broadchurch is not the idyllic place that everyone imagined. The story particularly follows the events of the Latimer family and all those close to it, bringing to light terrible truths that spare no one.
